I'm flabbergasted that people think this isn't an act. It's like the Kimmel and Matt Damon thing years ago, when it seemed the majority of ATOTers were saying it was legitimate.

Come on people. He's a talented actor, but that's where it ends.

I think this is a bit different than kimmel and matt damon lol. this is the guy's life right now, and if he is faking it, hes putting a ton of effort in...

anyway, not too sure what the motivation would be, not like casey affleck really needs help finding work these days, since gone baby gone hes gotten pretty big. maybe he wants to get into directing though? idk

It's not just that wrestling isn't real (as in they don't do they moves they pretend to), it's that watching it is basically just the red-neck equivalent of going to the ballet.

If you want to watch people fighting, watch boxing or UFC.

That's one of the funniest interviews I've seen in years!

Yeah, that had me rolling. Dave was really laying into him and I think most of it went right over his head.

Obviously, you're the one whos head it went over. It's all an act.

Haha yep, hilarious. You can definitely see him struggling not to laugh in a couple of spots.

Maybe he's just dedicated to his craft, or he's bored, or he likes causing "WTF is wrong with Jauquin Phoenix!!?!?" threads all over the interwebs. He could just be on some crazy drugs... He's been known to be pretty weird in interviews. Who knows.

Wow I'm sorry but that was a complete waste of time. Very boring. His act was funny for 2 minutes, after that it got very old.

no, even someone on crazy drugs would have been more responsive than he was last night.
But it is most likely that he is just bored.
And Casey Affleck is full of fail... take the marbles out of your mouth, then maybe we can understand you.

Hah yeah it was an act. He took the gum off the desk , almost died laughing when letterman said "sorry Joaquin Phoenix couldnt be tonight", and took off his glasses and the end and shook his hand.

Just about any rapper (with the possibly exception of Weird Al) is a talentless freak who should be shot at sight anyway, so who cares?

Weird Al is a rapper? that's news to me. I wasn't aware chaging a few words around made him somehow magically talented when he's basically rapping in some of his spoofs. Yeah All About The Pentiums took a fucking musical genius to come up with *siiiigh* people who put so much damn effort into hating on rap crack me up. Almost as much as the wrestling haters who tell the fans "it's not real!" as if anyone over the age of 12 who watches it believes it is. I think the haters are the stupid ones.

I rap but I don't want to be shot at sight, so I hope I never run in to you man :(

While I dont give a shit about rap one way or the other, your argument seems to be--

'Its as valid as wrestling and only under 12's think thats good'

I'm confused, either you like rap or think its shit.

The guy has gone Bonkers. There's no reason for it to be a hoax. He's a two time oscar nominee, not like he's a struggling actor trying to get his name out. I just think he's on drugs.

Pretty entertaining none the less...looking forward to his rap debut :D

From my favorite movie site:

Text

A great article by Devin, and it gives more insight on what may or may not be going on with Joaquin.

Either way, what he's doing is fascinating.

The whole world wants to believe that he's pulling some kind of Andy Kaufman kind of joke here.

I just think he's hooked on Heroin.
