I am trying to get Apache JMeter working, and for some reason, I can't figure out what to do to get it to work with SSL. I change port to 443, but do I need to setup something else?

I believe that you need properly configured keystores and certificates. Recording HTTPS Traffic with JMeter's Proxy Server guide has some clues and workarounds.
