Are there any downsides to the N/A models besides no turbo? Are they relatively easy to turbo or is the motor different?

If you don't want to turbo it, not really. The n/a's have smaller brakes and a smaller radiator.

The engine is very different and is not worth turboing. The S54 transmission is ~45lbs lighter and not nearly as strong as the E153 (turbo) transmission. The S54 grenades around 300tq, not *infinity like the E153. Other differences are gauge cluster, shift cables, axles, rear hubs, and the n/a's do not come with a rear cross-brace from the factory.

If you do want to turbo it, you are better off buying a turbo chassis.

I definitely would want to turbo it. Bummer. That looks like a great deal if someone wants an N/A.

Car will be auctioned on Saturday. http://www.otayautoauctions.com/inventory.php

The 2 died today - shut off as I was leaving the freeway. Roommate and I towed it back with the Lexus. It cranks, doesn't start, doesn't catch, and the plugs are bone dry. I can hear the fuel pump kicking on, but I don't seem to be getting fuel.

So, now it's back home...I'll look at it this week and see if I can figure out WTF is going wrong. Has anyone had a fuel pump that you could hear run but wasn't pumping anything?

I've had other pumps fall apart internally, things are spinning but the pumpy parts are not.
Tap the line or crack a fitting and see if you get fuel.

Yeah, I'll probably pop the return line and check it in a bit. Didn't want to go too far in depth in a parking lot, but I should have a better answer by the end of the week.

Only thought - jammed FPR? Clogged fuel filter? Both long-shots at best, damaged fuel pump seems much more likely.

Boo to broken cars.

Fuel filter is only a few thousand miles old. FPR is a very simple unit, but I suppose it is possible. Easy enough to diagnose, just gotta get out there and do it. :)

So the good news is the fuel pump appears to be fine (seeing 80psi on the fuel rail return).

The bad news is the fuel pump appears to be fine.

Now to figure out why I'm not getting fuel!

So its gotta be something with injectors or megasquirt. Maybe something with wiring.

I would first check the solid colored wires on one of the injectors to see if it has constant voltage. They should always be powered when the key is on. If not then I would move to the Injector Resistor Pack (if you still have it connected) and check the wire that is Black with Red dots from it to see if it has voltage. That black with red dot wire is the main power for the injectors and IIRC it leads directly back to the COR (Circuit Open Relay).

It may even be something as simple as a fuse... But that begs the question, why is the fuse blowing.

IIRC my resistor pack is gone with the top feed injectors I have. I'm going to test the injectors (12v to one wire and ground to another) and see if they're clicking like they should.

I wouldn't be surprised if my Megasquirt died, given the luck I've had with it.

Have someone cycle the ignition while you put a finger on an injector. They should prime as soon as the MS has power.

If no power at the injectors Check the connection where the resistor pack used to be. Maybe the solder joint came apart.

Thank you for shopping at ATS Racing! Your order number is 16956.

Done. Tired of dealing with this shit.

Yeah, ATS sold ~15 MSPNP's and said they had to open every single one to fix something.

My refurbished MSPNP arrived today. Time to swap out and see if it was mine that failed, or something else.

Hopefully it was the ECU, then I can finally be done with all this troubleshooting. The ECU Master EMU from ATS Racing will be here eventually and I will replace the MSPNP entirely. I'm tired of dealing with its finickyness.

Swapped the coil. Runs great.

My ECU Master EMU will be here in the next few days. :D

EMU is here. It has an E85 tune on it for 24psi, which made 450rwhp on the car it was tuned on. It had a very similar setup - differences:

Tune: GT3076, cams (guessing 264 or 268)
My car: GT3071, Gen3 cams

I'm anticipating ~420rwhp if I was to hit the same dyno the first car was tested on.

It's getting installed this weekend. :awe:
