not a chance in hell

that would mean 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, 6/6 in order to break it.

there's no way.

Huh? 😕

4/4 mean 4 hits in 4 at bats.
he would have to do that 4 times (4 games with 4 hits in four at bats) and one game where he has 6 hits in 6 at bats.

hahaha. wtf?

All he has to do is get 1 hit in each of the next 56 games.

Fixed. Sorry, Joltin' Joe's record is for a single season. Rollins would have a different record unless he hits in 57 games in a row this season.

Wouldn't it be funny if he has to go to Yankee Stadium for interleague play to break DiMaggio's record? You think the Yankees would get him out once and then intentionally walk him the rest of the time?

J-Roll doubles on his first AB, 38 and counting baby! Joe may always have the single season record, but J-Roll has the chance to go into the 60's with his streak. To me, all things being equal, more games over 2 seasons > less games over 1 season, no question about.

If he does break it, they put a star next to the record stating the 6 month break he had during his streak. Personally, I don't think it should count. A streak means continuous games in a single season, not across 2 seasons w/ a 6 month break in the middle.

self ownage of the year

LOL, I think he's hiding some where after seriously pwning himself. Does he even know what the hitting streak is? Apparently not.

so ESPN has one less thing to hype in the coming weeks. i guess they are disappointed. now they need to find something else to hype

Gotta love how most of you assholes bash him when all he did was hit in 38 straight games.

Jealousy much?

Wow, enough with this asterisk bullshit, please. One is single season, the other would have been overall. After that it's your perogitive on which one you would think is more prestigious.

I think it would be an incredible feat. I mean, he's still on his hot streak after a few months layoff. Anyone that says no has probably never played sports before. Take shooting freethrows for instance. It's easier to make 50 in a row at one time then 25 in a row, then 25 in a row again when your cold. He's not even in midseason form yet.

The streak is over.

Hmm, did it end today? That sucks.
