Jimmy Carter was a crappy president.

His heart's in the right place, but he (along with Clinton) sure blew the North Korea thing back in '94.
 
He is one of the best ex-presidents we have ever had, and one of the worst sitting presidents........
 
Jimmy Carter could have been the greatest president of the century if he hadn't surrounded himself with complete dumbasses. Very intelligent man who has his heart in the right place.
 
Sure but have we really had a good president in the last humpteen years?

They all promise this and that and never come through with anything unless they're up for re-election.
 
IMO Ronald Reagan was an outstanding president. The world is a better and safer place as a result of him bring the Soviet Union down. Of course, we do have to thank Bill Clinton and his shoddy foreign policies for the crises' we're dealing with now.
 
No doubt his appeaser philosophy was disastrous to American forign policy and has resulted in the calamitous atmosphere compounded by Clintons recklessness..

But...can you really say that the fall of the Soviet Union can be directly attributed to Ronald Reagan? Don't you think that containment, which started out with Harry S. Truman (not to mention the other presidents during the Cold War) had a little bit to do with it?

I don' t remember the Soviet Union bringing down the WTC, or any US building for that matter.
It's these terrorists whom Reagan trained in Afganistan to defeat the USSR, who brought down the WTC.
Reagan's role in bringing down the USSR is exagerrated. Sure the arms race might have put a large economic strain, but that didn't bring down North Korea, they are starving and staying communist. The impact of WW2 on USSR economy was far worse, and it didn't collapse. Mostly USSR failed because you can only fool people for so long into thinking that socialism is working. After 70 years, everyone knew that it wasn't. Gorbachev brought down the USSR with glastnost by finally allowing people to say what they have been waiting to say for 70 years, and that is that they weren't interested in building communist world, but more interested in their own well being.

All true. Reagan had the guts to challenge the Soviets and during the time saying anything that might anger them was just not done! Also, until Reagan started to rebuild our military, that was still reeling from Vietnam, the Soviets could whip our butts. Reagan did not do it by himself, but it indeed was he that stood up to the Soviets.....and won!

Ever see Gerald Ford speak about foreign affairs? He is much more learned and intelligent than Carter.

Carter is the same man now as he was a Presedent. He's great now and was great then. Probably one of our greatest in terms of character. Carter, in my opinion, is one of those rare, real Christians, a man with great humility.

Carter was practically laughed out of office, but not before the price of everything doubled. Yeah he was a crappy president, and proving every day he is a crappy person.
 
nothing against the guy personally, he does some good stuff now, but he was an extremely weak and ineffective president.
