Jilted Lover Charged With Ripping Out Woman's Heart

A man apparently jilted by a rejected Valentine?s Day marriage proposal has been arrested and charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend.

Police found the body of 20-year-old Betzaida Eva Madera's in her apartment in the Bronx Tuesday. Sources say her throat had been slashed and her heart had been cut out.

Police arrested her estranged boyfriend, 25-year-old Wilfredo Lopez.

According to published reports, Lopez was apparently upset that Madera had rejected his Valentine's Day proposal and then rejected another attempt to get back together over the weekend.

Madera leaves behind an 18-month-old son.

Lopez faces murder and weapons charges. According to published reports, police arrested him in Crotona Park after his aunt told police he was carrying a gun and had threatened to commit suicide.
