Is it anything like Logan?

I just made up a flight to come back from my trip and it stops at JFK NY. The problem is I swtch airlines during the lay over...but the the lay over is only 1 hour. So.....will I have time to get my luggage? I have to lug it from jet blues terminal to deltas terminal. Is this even a possible thing to do? I know that if I did this at logan, I'd be screwed. You think jet Blue will let me just keep my baggage on a jet blue carrier that goes to boston?

You can take the air train (or whatever they call it). Those two airlines are in totally different buildings IIRC.

I was their today actually to pick up my aunt. That was in the recently overhauled American Airlines building. It's actually really nice.

Anyway, if they take your luggage directly there then it's feasible that you could make it. Just take the air train (or w/e they call it) and you should be able to make it. It shouldn't take that long for the train to get around. (it's completely unmanned train that just goes around. Probably a few of them).

Edit:
Thats if everything is exactly on time ;)

that was my worry. I was hoping that it would be one gigantic building....:( Oh well....i am just gonna try and tough it out....although I maybe able to talk to Delta cause the have a lfight that leaves an hour later......

Jamaica is a hub for the LIRR. At Jamaica, you can take trains going out to the Island, you can take trains going into the city, you can hop on subways. It makes more sense than you think.

Hah, no... JFK has about 9 different terminals, all separate buildings.

LGA blows chunks. JFK >>>LGA. For NYC airports on LI to fly into and out of, I'd rather fly in and out of JFK. Islip MacArthur airport is always a choice on LI, but so few airlines fly out of there, it is completely worthless to even consider most of the time.

No, sorry, it makes perfect sense. You can connect there to every LIRR branch except one, or the NYC subway.

What DOESN'T make sense is the $5 charge to enter the airport from the Howard Beach subway station [(A) train]. Five years ago it was FREE.

And it's NOT a monorail. PHOTO. It has two steel rails, just like a normal train.

I think with 1 hour it will be possible to make your next flight as long as you hustle and as long as AirTrain doesn't act up.

Yeah, taking the LIRR to Jamaica and then using the airtrain is the best thing ever. I pretty much know I can make it from manhattan to JFK in less than an hour every single time.

Does it connect to LIRR/MTA in Jamaica?

Yep. And I was on the very first AirTrain train from Jamaica to JFK. They gave out special collector's Edition MetroCards. I haven't opened mine. I think it is worh a lot of money since only a few hundred were released.
