Is it anything like Logan?

I just made up a flight to come back from my trip and it stops at JFK NY. The problem is I swtch airlines during the lay over...but the the lay over is only 1 hour. So.....will I have time to get my luggage? I have to lug it from jet blues terminal to deltas terminal. Is this even a possible thing to do? I know that if I did this at logan, I'd be screwed. You think jet Blue will let me just keep my baggage on a jet blue carrier that goes to boston?

I have only flown into JFK once, and that was on an international flight so the delays/etc were a lot longer than domestics obviously. That being said, the airport did seem pretty large and the layout was not the best, so I am not sure a 1 hour layover would be adequate. Also remember that there very may well be delays, but I suppose if its wether, both you incoming and outgoing could be delayed by the same amount....

My last connection was in JFK a week ago. Came from Zurich, and was going to RDU. My lay over was also 1 hour - but our Zurich flight was delayed 20 minutes. So after getting through Customers, we painfully waited for our luggage. Then had to check it back in. Then literally RAN to the next terminally, just barely making the flight. Unfortunately the luggage didn't make it.

I can't believe people have never been to JFK.

I love living in the suburbs of NYC.

Do you have to go through security again at the other terminal? I don't remember there being any way to move between terminals inside security, but then again I never had to move between terminals.

1 hour is cutting it pretty close.

Send it on another plane and (I think) deliver it to your hotel.

there is a monorail that goes into Jamaica... which is the dumbest project they could've embarked on considering the fact that people who tend to fly would probably not live in the Jamaica area

They sent it on another flight, then delivered it to my house the next day.

Does it connect to LIRR/MTA in Jamaica?

Say what you will about airlines, but in my experience they are usually really good about getting your lost/late luggage to you ASAP. Coming back from france, after connecting in Chicago and landing in nashville, about 2/3 of the passengers from chicago (including me) found out our luggage was a couple flights behind. I went home and they brought it to our house (like 30 minutes away) that very same night by shuttle.

No, but the fact is that that LIRR's station in Jamaica is perhaps the center of any destination on the island through railway.

I think they're required to do that... because I highly doubt they'd do it otherwise.

Now, imagine leaving Maui at midnight and arriving in Philadelphia at ~6 p.m. after 12 hours total flying time. Then you go to get your luggage. And you wait. And wait. And wait. People around you are mentioning a shortage of baggage handlers. Every once in a while a load of luggage comes up on the conveyor belt, and you look. And look. And look. And wait. And wait. And wait. You go to the desk to report your baggage as lost, but they rebuff you - it's here, they say. Just wait. And wait. And wait. Finally your baggage comes up on the conveyor belt after two hours of waiting. Assholes.

You can take the air train (or whatever they call it). Those two airlines are in totally different buildings IIRC.

I was their today actually to pick up my aunt. That was in the recently overhauled American Airlines building. It's actually really nice.

Anyway, if they take your luggage directly there then it's feasible that you could make it. Just take the air train (or w/e they call it) and you should be able to make it. It shouldn't take that long for the train to get around. (it's completely unmanned train that just goes around. Probably a few of them).

Edit:
Thats if everything is exactly on time ;)

JFK has gotten better, but that doesn't mean it isn't trash. I hate to defend the place, but IMO Hartsfield is better. JFK and LGA are up there with pure torture for me. I'd rather fly out of EWR anyday.

I'm not talking about picking people up... I'm speaking of passenger experience. It sucks. LGA is Satan's Spawn in the Summer. There are worse major airports for sure, but most of them are in developing countries...

No no....3PM:p

As for sleeping, i can't sleep on a bus. When i went on teh greyhound from MA to FL, i did not get a minute of sleep. I have taken teh Fungwah before, and its not bad. I really love how they show pirated movies during the trip.
