Bought a new dishwasher and it came with a sample of Jet-Dry. I have never used it before but have always noticed the little Jet-Dry filler on previous dishwashers.

Does this stuff actually do anything?
 
I think so. Try it with and without. I didn't see too big of a difference, but we have ultra-hard water, so it always looks bad.
 
Is it the tablet of blue and white detergent with the "pearl" in the center?

I used it when I had a free sample, it was great because I could just drop it into the tray.
 
No, the one that came with my dishwasher is liquid. Smells like green apple. They must have quite a monopoly in the dishwasher additive industry because my dishwasher specifically calls for it and even has their URL on it.
