It's a good series. It's targeted at kids (genocide, cultural erasure, and shakespearean themes notwithstanding) but it's got a great story regardless.

The original Avatar movie is/was (?) the highest grossing movie ever not because it was good, and not because people liked it, but because it was the first in the 2000s run of forcing people to watch in 3D and charging $20+ per ticket at a time when regular admissions were half that price.
