While the story might express an underlying truth about the attitudes of American Christians, it's also an oft-heard anecdote.


I had no idea. The minister who was telling his story about Jesus speaking English stole the story from an incident that happened in the past. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

"If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it ought to be good enough for the children of Texas."

Doesn't seem like quite the same thing, though.

Besides, that's getting way too far into the minutiae of Christianity for me (I don't think I even met a Christian till I was well into my 20s...even now haven't met many).

Though the KJV was written in the same era of English as Shakespeare's plays, no? So not surprising some people prefer it.
