You can always tell when somebody is a crap people-manager.

When I was a dispatcher I was often attacked for being "too nice" and giving my guys choices about who they wanted to drive/where they wanted to go.

Strange how those same guys (including several who wouldn't lift a finger for anyone else) I was "too nice" to would literally run through a wall for me when I got stuck and asked for help. (which was rare)

Unless it's wartime military and I can shoot you for insubordination, I have NO WAY to MAKE another person do anything.
