Horrible story and I believe that is indeed what happened to her and her co pilot. Would have been better for them if they had been captured/killed by the Japanese (a competing theory) because wasting away from dehydration and heat while huge crabs slowly eat you is fucking horrible. Should have killed every crab they could find Day 1, but they were both probably hurt and weak, just wanted to get a radio working with their last reserves of strength.

The Bridgeport CT Beardsley zoo has several peacocks (both male & female) wandering the grounds freely all the time and from what I've seen and been told they never bother anyone.
