It's 2 and it's very easy to solve. I solved it in just a few seconds. Spoiler on how to solve:

Wheel 1 we will call A (for anticlockwise) the next wheel we will call C (for clockwise).

Every gear attached to another gear directly gets changed from whatever letter you were on to the next.

Every straight pulley there is no change, Every crossed pulley there is change in direction.

You should now be able to go through them all quickly and arrive at A for anticlockwise at the end which means the arrow will point to 2.

I dont know this cat, but I suspect he is not fond of the vet:

That's pretty normal cat behavior, vet or no vet. New place? Best to lay low, find a hiding place, and observe until we are comfortable with the routines.

I had one cat would would walk around the examination room like he owned the place, and when the vet came in, start chewing on their shoes. But he was basically like that all the time - he viewed the world as his combination litter box and chew toy. IME, that's an odd personality for a cat.

I remember hearing a real story of someone that this happened to - but this is obviously a clear fake. That's not really the color of shit, and that's not how it smears, it's just chocolate and they obviously did it on a non-carpeted surface.

Well there's tons of pic on google images of you search roomba and dog poop. So I'm sure it happens with some regularity.

These kinds of things always make me cringe because a family member did something very similar in the 90's and is now a quadriplegic. He dove backwards into a 4 ft pool and internally decapitated himself when he hit the floor. :(
