Well, on one hand, Tremors is a documentary and those are baby Graboids.

OTOH, many species of fish and frogs and shit live in seasonal watering holes. They swim around for a few months of the year, then burrow into the mud. Sometimes they shed skin to build a sort-of-cocoon. Then they wait out the dry season (when the lake/river/pond dries up) hibernating. Rain falls, they wake up, dig themselves out, and resume doing the fish thing.

I had something like that happen while in my dad's 18' flats skiff once. Not as much shark (close tho!), but just as much swearing.
