If the fart had enough particles of shit, I think it could be picked up. It may pick up the gas too -- that giant methane leak in California could be seen with an IR camera. I forget if you need a special filter or a specific wavelength of camera to see gas because gas-viewing cameras are a separate product-line at FLIR.

Right, but at the narrow wavelengths in which you can see gas, you won't see heat (as seen in the video above.)
