Is it just me, or does it look like the driver's head really travels a fair bit outside the car right before the vehicle settles? Ow.

I didn't even notice that one till you pointed it out, it is a split second thing.

No seat belt it looks, oops.

It's former USSR, so of course no one is wearing the seat belt.
Seems like his head sticks out of the window and hits the A-pillar.

Nah, trying to pause and see still frames in youtube, it appears that what appears near the upper A-pillar is just the side mirror flying up and away after impact. The damage at the upper windshield appears to be a direct result of the crumple damage on the A-pillar, the latter itself appearing to be simply a natural result of the front-left impact and frame damage.
