And hopefully you were kidding and only pretending not to know the relevance of skirts. The relevance? Why, they need to have something to cover their genitals or else they'd be exposing themselves when they sit, climb, ride bikes, etc in a skirt.
As for zippers, getting hair caught is not a complexity issue. Hair will work its way in the mechanism after it is zipped or get caught while unzipping before they could access the other side to do any kind of manipulation to prevent it.

I showed this thread to the women in the office. It's good to see humor returning to it. Bike riding is a good example none of us had thought of. The rest of the time wearing a skirt, they say isn't a problem if you conduct yourself as a lady and move properly. None of them have long pubic hair so they couldn't comment on the zipper issue but since I do, the inside fabric covering the zipper has seemingly prevented any hair issues, not sure what kind of unusual pants your women are wearing. They did mention that a lot of womens clothes have the zipper on the side or back, probably for this reason.
