Det Cord vs Bullet

Considering that to be classified as a high explosive the front needs to travel above 5,000 fps and more typically over 20,000 fps and most bullets travel below 3000 fps it's no surprise that the explosion front would catch up with the bullet. Still a cool video though and boy would I love to have a high speed camera capable of slowing down a bullet like that.

The combustion of fuel/air in a car engine is often erroneously called an explosion but that's not what's happening -- the combustion rate is too slow to be called an explosion and if it were fast enough to be an explosion it would damage/destroy the engine.

In the video/gif it looks like the bullet triggers the explosion when it passes a sensor left of center.

Pretty wicked stuff to mess with, used work with an engineer at a place in environmental testing with cinderblock walls and about a 6 inch thick at least plexi window to watch things.

Used it for shock tests with accelerometers hooked up for space component testing in smaller amounts.

Someone explain? What's the funny there?
This thread has funny, cool, or interesting pictures. That one is not supposed to be funny. Basically, the Bill Watterson refused to merchandize "Calvin and Hobbs" so you can't legally buy what she has no matter how much money you throw at it. It looks like she (or someone generous) made something cool and amazingly accurate.

Oh... I was also puzzled, but only thought was the tail looked like wang.

Hate it when people don't let stuff be merchandized. Where the hell is my Roger the Alien stuffed animal?
