I was just relating it to the scene in The Fountain where Astronaut Tom (Major Tom, hurr hurr) drinks the sap from the dying biosphere tree containing his wife's life force and it bursts out of him as a rapid growth of plants (revives it).

It seems the crow is enjoying the puzzles as well. That "Eureka" moment.
I wonder if it experiences pleasure. Of course the reward center is triggered when it eats and enjoys the food, but i would not be surprised if there is more.
Planning can also give a rewarding feeling while not even been executed yet. It is the thought of the reward that will come in the future that executes also a pleasure feeling in the reward center ? Who knows.

Makes me think of those kids that were asked to wait and not eat the cookie in front of them on the table. If they wait an hour, they would get two cookies. Some did not have a problem, other caved right in. Some had to be taught to wait and were successful only when someone helped them see the benefit of waiting an hour in order to get two cookies.
