I like this plan, though I'm curious about the success rate.

In most places, "distracted driving" can include eating, so if there are laws against cell phone use, they probably have laws against cookies too. And, sure, these laws are basically never enforced, but they might be if the driver was intentionally trying to be a dick to the cops.

Yep, this is exactly what I was thinking.

Driving withut due care and attention is the charge in the UK, you probably wouldn't get charged eating a cookie but as you said if you were being a dick about it you are just asking for trouble.

I think you'd have better odds of getting out of a ticket with an actual cellphone.

It's a funny idea though.

Yeah thats fucking brilliant.
He hits you for 3 other things while he's got you pulled over.

Dickhead.

Yeah, I don't think guys with badges like getting pranked while on the job. There might be a statute for simulating a crime, distracting an officer, or whatever. Then there's always "oh look your tail light is busted."

My idea is the opposite, if I ever notice a cop watching me use my cell phone I am going to pretend to be eating it. Its and old small phone, so I figure they will not know its a phone and skip pulling me over.

Secondary plan, keep a candy bar in the car and be eating it by the time the officer gets to the window and claim, what phone?

Point is that they will pull you over for a phone even if you are driving perfectly normally, but only ticket you for eating if you are messing up.

They can't pull you over for the phone here. It's illegal, but that only comes in to play if they were determining fault or you were pulled over for something else.

That "something else" is easy to fix. Seat belts here used to be just secondary too...then they later made it a primary offense.
