I use to do ad hoc computer support for my old law firm and as fast as I could reformat and reinstall the sectretaries' malfunctioning computers, they would install the damn purple monkey.

That was BonziBuddy and he came pre-loaded with a lot of filesharing software (like Kazaa) and various free games. It was particularly annoying because if you uninstalled it, the other software that included it would stop working. Great moments in adware there.

And yet it would still probably be illegal to take someone who writes adware or spyware, embed them in concrete, and then dump the solidified block into a volcano.
Though I think the judge would apologize profusely while handing down the sentence.
