Ignorance of religion thanks to it commonly being misrepresented in cartoons and such. When applied to religion, Philoso-raptor is supposed to make light of genuine religious contradictions.

The Devil was punished and wants to spite God by tempting others to be evil ("the Devil made me do it"). This means that he drags everyone down with him so that they share in his punishment, but the punishment is not what he revels in: He wants to deprive God of his followers/children.

He's the bad guy because he encouraged evil. God is the one that punishes evil/sin.
