I'm almost positive that he realized that he was in a lot of trouble after beating that man so he tried to make it appear that the man hit him and the attack was in retaliation. That's why he threw himself at a stopped vehicle.

OK, the wreck is real, however this is a classic example of why Facebook is taking over email as the new bullshit machine.
