One suggestion for the cable video. If you aren't hooked up using HDMI is doesn't work right. He failed to mention this little tidbit. Perhaps that was the problem all along?

i'm hooked up with an hdmi cable. i don't see why it won't work :/ maybe i need to break out the component cables...

You have to hit the buttons pretty quickly. If you hesitate at all, it just re sets.
