OK, so....the first mass extinction event on this planet that is currently known was when those little tide pool assholes started sprouting--the first oxygen producers--dumping their poison into an anaerobic earth. Basically wiped out 98% of existing life on the planet at the time, simply by pumping out oxygen.



....but shit. I guess they adapted. They went from little cyanobacteria floating around at the periphery of our shores, to tolerating a sessile, terrestrial life. They adapted. They slowed down. ...they understood that reducing their poison, thereby allowing enough of life to keep going long enough, they would still be fed in time. This is why those fuckers now live for hundreds and hundreds of years as their best examples.
