Tumblr Star Wars nerd thread talking about the ending of 'Rogue One' leading into 'A New Hope'
The so called rebels are old regime dead enders, a hereditary aristocracy protected by a weirdo sword cult. They oppose the meritocracy of the new administration. We are supposed to root for them because of reasons. Why is Leia a princess? It doesn't make much sense for the daughter of a member of the Senate from Alderaan to have that title.

Desperate and/or crazy humans are not to be trifled with, it's true.
Star Wars fans are insufferable at the lengths they're willing to try and defend just bad movie making. That ending was the cherry on top of just how much Rogue One shits all over the original movies. It treats viewers as idiots because, as that points out, he just went scorched earth, literally. So he's evil enough to blow up a whole goddamn planet to try and keep the plans from escaping but not a single ship? What sense does that make? It doesn't. Further, did they even watch the original? Vader says they took the ship because they intercepted a transmission, so it literally doesn't make sense unless Vader is an even bigger goddamned moron (which uh, doesn't make him more badass), who also calmed down enough after he literally just like force killed dozens of people (and blew up a goddamn planet) that he didn't just force choke Leia. Its not like he needs her for any reason. He could just kill her and pinned the entire thing on her and the rebels. "Princess Leia was killed after she as part of a Rebel fleet attacked a Galactic Empire outpost, with it being destroyed in the process." They would have proof that her ship was there so its not like even if they kept her alive she could play dumb if she had been apprehended just minutes after having left that planet. Its just stupid every which way and turns it into a Turmp level farce that only makes sense if you ignore basically every aspect of what would be needed for it to have happened that way.
This is up there with the stupid one posted about how some group got around lightsabers by shooting bullets. Because apparently laser swords that can cut through every other metal can't just vaporize bullets? Plus uh, JEDI can stop and move stuff with their mind, they should be able to just Neo bullet stop them. Star Wars fans think themselves far more clever than they are.
She's the actual daughter of the Senator from Naboo.Eh?
I mean, I hate the prequals but it's pretty clear: she's the actual daughter of the last monarch of her dynastic Alderran, her adoptive father being that Senator, for reasons of Galaxy-wide security.
and enough people know who she is, particularly that dude that knew her from pre-birth to birth to life-mission-to-protect-and make-important: Obi-Wan, to understand that she is literally a fucking princess. Of a fucking Planet.
dude. dont' bring these weak Seinfeld jokes where the punchline just dies at the premise!
Vader didn't order the planet to be blown up, "Peter Cushing"'s character did. One could argue that Vader suspects deep down that Leia is his daughter which would be why he isn't so ruthless with her as he is with others, but I honestly don't care that much about whether the Star Wars movies make perfect critical sense as they nuked the fridge a lot time ago as far as I'm concerned.Star Wars fans are insufferable at the lengths they're willing to try and defend just bad movie making.
