I'm almost skeptical, but I used to work with an office guy I sometimes had to get points files from while I was in the field. They're simple ascii comma delimited coordinate files. Instead of simply copy/pasting them into the body of an email for a few points, or attaching a txt file for long lists, he'd print them out, scan the prints to pdf, then email me a pdf attachment. He used every device in the office aside from a pencil

Happens to me too. Lots of times I ask someone reporting an issue to send a screenshot and get a Word docx attachment with screenshot pasted inside it. And yes, I've received scanned PDFs of printed screenshots too!

That's how common gunfire is there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was that thing that just happened, were Brazilian cops did some kind of huge raid and it all went Wild West. We've seen stuff like that in Israel during intifada and a few other spats, Israeli troops sending hate down an alleyway and there are people standing there 30ft away just watching. It does take balls to stand in one spot when people are spraying automatic fire back and forth, but a paycheck could also be possible.
