he survived. Probably not a lot of fuel onboard, they did a whole bunch of test pilot training with the Lightning.
Jolly good not found. Lightnings carried a lot of fuel, they even used storage in the wing flaps! I hope that pilot cleared the fireball. Ditching at that altitude likely means he didn't get to jettison fuel prior.
