Either that's not the first time that has been posted, or he isn't the first suspect to be caught on police cam doing that. Still hilarious!

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/06/08/woman-falls-through-cellar-door/

The woman’s son said there is a lot more to the story than just another person distracted by a cellphone. He said his mother is legally blind and diabetic.
The woman’s son said she has trouble seeing blended colors, and wishes workers had put up some type of indicator or cones to alert people to be careful.
Police said the woman was seriously hurt, but is now in stable condition. Her son said she was visiting from Florida, and he will be flying up tomorrow to be with her.

I wondered about that since she only brought up the phone at the last second. The panels blend in with that pavement color.

Speaking as someone who's SO has vision problems, that's definitely something that should have had a barrier up. The height and color uniformity of the door panels (and pavement) is enough to obscure the existence of a hole for some.

If your vision is that bad, you need to be using a cane or something

Not necessarily, she may not have very good peripheral vision, which can make something that seemed normal 30' out become a hole at 5'. Though to be fair if that was the case she shouldn't be walking while typing on a phone.

Either way, there's instances where someone's vision may be shitty enough to trip over something every once in a while, but not bad enough to require a cane/canine.

Even the bruthas were looking at him like "damn son!!!". If any part of it is fake, it's just where he's skimming the pool. Getting up and out looks legit, although you have to wonder how he did that without incoming speed if the rest were faked.

It's not fake. A number of folks in the park have learned to do it, but it requires a hard push at the top of the slide and the correct posture at the bottom to maintain speed.

Since tripping over something just once can kill you, and she is legally blind, she should be using a cane or something. Reasonable accommodations are okay, but the world can't be responsible for making every sidewalk safe for blind folks who refuse to take any extra precautions to deal with their disability.

She wasn't distracted for more than a single second by checking the time on her phone. It was her diminished vision and lack of cane, guide dog or escort that was mostly responsible for the fall. Sure, we could pass more laws requiring cones, safety barriers and flaggers whenever a cellar door is opened, but at some point folks have to take at least minimal responsibility for themselves.

Since this is a LOLs thread, I won't hijack it any further.
