South Africa's Gold Fields (JSE, NYSE:GFI), the world's seventh-largest gold producer, has already lost ten of these vehicles since it adopted the technology at its St Ives operation. One crashed as a result of human error, the Australian Broadcasting Corporationreports, while the rest have been the victim of wedge-tailed eagles, the largest bird of prey in Australia and one of the world’s biggest.

So far the miner has spent more than $100,000 replacing the lost surveying tools.

Story here.

Edit, from Wiki:
The wedge-tailed eagle is the only bird that has a reputation for attacking hang gliders and paragliders (presumably defending its territory). Cases are recorded of the birds damaging the fabric of these gliders with their talons.
That has to be a bit unnerving.

lol The back story was that 2 hunters brought the deer in to be tagged. Walmart isn't a tagging station (who knew?) and they were asked to leave. No idea why they left their dinner behind though.

It's Wal-mart. If you see a dead deer in a cart don't even ask questions. That's a good day, be happy you didn't see something worse.
