Lucky that was a bus. Someone here died after walking into a truck and falling under the wheels.

Nakamichi was the shit back then.

HiFi via 1/4" 4 track tape, two tracks in each direction at some silly low inches per second needed all the marketing gimmicks imaginable. Main issue was that Phillips controlled the patent and would not allow any tape handling mechanism that is external to the cassette like a VCR uses so stable tape motion wasn't really possible.

What sorcery is this?

I remember when the local high end (high end for my fair city, anyway) stereo store had one of these in the front window. IIRC, the claim was that auto-reversing decks never achieved perfect alignment so the tape flipping mechanism yielded better sound. Yeah, I know, but it sure was cool.

Yes. You can tell it's an Asian elephant because of its small trunk ;)

There may be some truth to that since the tape heads couldn't occupy the same space, therefore the head would never be in the optimal signal spot. A movable tape head could work but could result in tape damage if you swipe the magnet over a live tape.

I spent a lot of time in recording studios in the 80's :D

She wanted special attention for being a girl who plays games and she didn't get any. Walking away reveals that the expected attention was the only reason she was even interested.

Is that a thing? I didn't know that was a thing.
