If it's purely because they are the only ones on that island, that'd be a pretty unfunny reason that doesn't explain any of the missing humor. Assuming that isn't it, why are they on what appears to be a deserted island anyway? Is that a beer bottle or a paintbrush?

It is funny to me because it is just that. Two straight guys who might be best buddies but do not feel a need to cross a certain barrier. Hiding behind the tree yelling : "Go away !!" .
If you want to start scenarios : Might be 2 gay guys who do not like each other and do not want to fall in love. And they are hiding behind a tree. Yelling : "Go away !!".
