As discussed on an episode of QI. I think I saw it in one of those Cracked list articles of disgusting things before that.
I vaguely remember from one of those that fish tongues are physiologically different from animal tongues - no muscle - but they are functionally kind of equivalent.

They are pretty gross I see them more often in predatory fish. gross part is that they are still well alive after being out of the water for a whole day in the gills and tongues of come fish we catch. they cling to you and are hard to get off if they grip you with all their legs.
