Democrats are huge fucking pussys. The Republicans in Congress have been playing nasty tricks, spreading FUD like the "death panel" scare. They have also had more filibusters than any Congress in history.

The Dems have responded with business as normal. Lame as shit.

If I were a Dem leader in Congress I would be screaming from the rooftops that the Republicans have been absolute obstructionists, and that they have no new ideas (they really don't, cutting taxes isn't a new idea, and it's not going to solve this crisis either).

Maybe the Dems deserve to lose. And maybe the stupid masses who think Republicans are about anyone other than corporations deserve the economic hell that is going to takeover this country in coming years as more and more jobs shift overseas.

You can't beat Chinese wages by cutting social program, lowering spending and cutting taxes.

lol we are so fucked.

THere's a lot of truth to that. The part of the Democrats who are doing a lot better - who are screaming those things - is the progressive wing. We need more of them.

The Republicans have not had the ability to successfully filibuster anything until Scott Brown was elected. Anything the Congress has not been doing is completely the fault of the Democrats. They have had the super majority and made a complete mess of it.

Wrong.

The fact a couple of Democrats are bad doesn't take the responsibility off 40 Repubs for their actions.

In fact all they needed was 40 Repubs and their planned 2008 VP nominee Joe Liebermann, even though they had a few bad dems too.

It hasn't been that long since Bernard Goldberg's "Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right: How One Side Lost Its Mind and the Other Lost Its Nerve"(2007). So I suggest that we all are dissatisfied with the group we "identify" with.

If you can't get your legislation passed with a 60/40 advantage...perhaps the legislation is the problem...just a thought.

You read too many really crappy, wrong books. Goldberg is long discredited, a bad dishonest propagandist.

Keep playing the blame game, guys. It doesn't work. Democrats have had ample opportunity to enact their agenda and you can continue to blame the Republicans, media, Ronald McDonald, or whomever you want, but none of it passes muster.

Democrats are no better than Republicans and they are all in it for themselves. Time to grow up and face reality.

You're just didn't like my Thomas Sowell post.

Actually, my post should have been taken at face value because that's the way I meant it.

Never have so many fought so hard to pass legislation about which they know nothing that will affect so many people.

There were a few ways this could have been handled and naturally the worst was chosen.

If they wanted a 2k page Magnum Opus they could have picked people who are experts and let them do a proper job of analysis for Congress to use. Nope.

They could have focused on smaller bits that Americans were likely to support, let's say a safety net for the unemployed, or real medicaid reform. Perhaps address the problems of people with prior conditions who cannot get coverage.

Nope. Write this huge bastard of a bill, decide that the way to fix Medicare is to punish the provider, while letting the drug companies set the price where they will.

Well the summit backed the Dems into the corner, and now they have to pass anything no matter how bad it is for political expediency and the hacks will blame the Reps. (Who I agree know nothing either). I'm glad they are opposing this, not because I think they're any better, but their animal instincts are for once doing something useful to counter the same blind party uber alles mentality of the Dems.

Blessed gridlock.

Now if anyone wants to improve health care that would be awesome. Haven't seen much of that.

where's moonbeam when you need him...

never claiming to be as eloquent or insightful as he, but it seems that you are correctly diagnosing your external reaction to your personal self hate and failure... now you just have to make the leap to giving up blaming your shortcomings on someone else and transcend your pathetic state...

Watched Rep. Paul Ryan last night. Appears he is one of the most knowledgeable about the bill and it's tricks. http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=5693

Sorry, but I burst out laughing when I read this:
He [Ryan] said “hiding spending doesn’t reduce spending.” Something the democrats have failed to learn over the years. Conservatives know the difference.

Just made me think about how the costs for Afghanistan and Iraq were conveniently left out of the budget until Obama took office. Yeah, Conservatives are real transparent.

I don't think Ryan's point is without merit, but as I've said elsewhere, I question his numbers.

Doc,
When you poll individual elements of the bill, much if it remains popular. The most unpopular item is the individual mandate. The public option can obtain majority support, but it depends very closely on how the question is worded. I'd be interested to see how Obama's new version of the plan polls.

Hayabusa,
Assume that the current bill is going to be voted on. At the same time, assume that the entire bill could still be changed. What changes do you think would be most important to address your concerns? I keep pushing you here because I'm genuinely interested in knowing how you think the system should be fixed.

Analysis I've read suggests doctors will end up getting paid significantly more under the bill than they do currently (about $300 billion more as a whole) due to the improvements to PCP reimbursement.

Uhh the reason Democrats haven't been able to "enact their agenda" is Republican obstructionism.

What obstructionism is that, exactly? Are you referring to using Senate procedures to delay votes?

With regard to health care specifically, it couldn't EVER be the fact that the proposed legislation was horrendous, now could it? Of course not, it is easier to blame the other party than to blame your own party for crafting such a stinker.

I loved all the bravado and big talk around here after the 08 election about how the Democrats were going to "ram through their legislation and agenda and there wasn't a damn thing that Republicans could do to stop it!" since they had a supermajority. I wonder what happened to those people?

I especially remember the "health care is a done deal by the end of the year (referring to 09) and there isn't a thing the righties can do about it!" That particular user probably had to have an emergency surgery to avoid choking on the foot in his mouth.

yeah... just like when one team in hockey has a powerplay they can't score...

if your team sucks and is incompetent, you can't score even with a substantial advantage...

These guys will never just admit that the Democrats talked a big game but couldn't back it up. It is easier to blame the Republicans than admit their own shortcomings. Oh well, I can use the forum search and laugh at all the lefties slobbering all over themselves after the 08 election about how the "Republicans can't stop us!"

The fact that anyone would blindly support either of these two assinine parties is something I can't understand.
