@Boston Dangler - I didn't intend to sound whiney about being a para! I merely wanted to point out that paras and others in wheelchairs can learn to use escalators.

From the Sears store manager's point of view, the concern was about possibly injuring others (cf the OP's video) and probably the store's liability. He had a valid point and I would have used an elevator if there was one. I didn't know the store had a freight elevator until after I went up the escalator.
