POLITICO has not independently confirmed Jackson’s resignation. His office did not reply to a request for comment. Jackson, the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times both reported Wednesday, was sending a letter to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to make official his resignation.

But at the same time, newspapers in Chicago reported that the Justice Department has been investigating Jackson for both alleged campaign finance violations.

his reelection was an embarrassment, unless he's trying to get a job as an MSNBC host alongside Al Sharpton.

amazing. i thought he would hang on until the bitter end.

i found it amazing that the guy could be caught up in so much negitive politics, not go to work for 6 months and win.

That sounds like the run of a mill Politician. ;)

One wonders if his having bipolar disorder is legit, legit because he's being investigated and doesn't have the pull to call in enough favors/blackmail to get off and has since cracked up, or if he was simply doing it to protect himself in some way from the investigation.

It is identity politics at its worst. Just having a D in front of his name in that district means he wins.

You ever checkout out there voting attendance?

yes. but they would still show up and not vote. Jackson just plain didn't show up or do anything. there are stories that he didn't call, email or contact anyone about anything since june.

even during the "election". he did absolute nothing.

figured with the investigations going on with him anyway he was due to retire. but thought he would hold on until it got far far worse for him.

I know and I'm not defending Jackson but pointing out how utterly worthless most Politicians are. ;)

Of course it happens in a red district.

Your words Bumpkin.....

Just having a D in front of his name in that district means he wins.

Are you equally "outraged" when this happens in an all red district?

so he must have got his taxpayer funded pension / medical / office allowance / office vehicle all paid for by the tax payer. That's what he was holding out for. Now he can sit at home and smoke crack all day long at the taxpayer expense.

Of course I would. What is your issue with that I have said? That I pointed out the ridiculousness of identity politics and the results that can come from it?
