heard on the radio but can't seem to find a news story on this...

During a drug bust last night in Jersey, a cop in his cruiser pulls in but is shot at... 8 other officers return fire and hit the guy 44 times. I love it. Officer who was shot is in stable condition after being hit 3 times.

When you shoot at a cop, your life is forfeit. I really don't care if they hit the guy 100 times, except for the fact 100 rounds starts getting a little expensive.

lets break it down,

8 cops, 44 shots (that hit), 1 guy.
so that's 5.5 bullets per cop, and let's assume they all unloaded a clipful on his ass, that 5.5/10 (once again, assume there's 10 in the clip)
That's 55% accuracy...

Well if you figure 17 rounds per mag times 8 officers would be 136 rounds expended (assuming the officers dumped their mags). So about 30% hit.

Not too bad under the circumstances. It's a hell of a lot easier to casually shoot at a target compared to when your life is in danger and you need to react under extreme circumstances.

Police shootouts have an average of 17% accuracy. Most departments carry either a .40 or 9mm, and with that there is generally about 15 rounds per magazine.

Despite the fact that we need to qualify with 80% accuracy over a number of different techniques & distances, you cannot predict how you will perform under the stress that accompanies a shootout.

I think capacity would be either 15 or 17 rounds depending on the weapon.
