Jerky Trackball

I have a Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel(thumb optical trackball) that's getting jerky and queaky. I tried cleaning the 3 contact points for the ball with alcohol, but that made too much friction between the contact points and the ball, resulting in a difficult to move ball. After a few days of use, the ball started moving smooth again, but now it's back to being jerky. Anything I can do to make it stay turning smooth?

Have you tried some other sort of cleaning solution? Sometimes, I just use my nails and just scrape all the stuff off the rollers and give it a spray of compressed air. When you clean the contacts, make sure to also clean the ball...because the ball is what's giving the dirt to the contacts. Hope this helps.

Perhaps you "bent" the contact points under the trackball while cleaning it so now the ball isn't sitting right ?
