Dear family, friends, rangers and fans...
Now you guys know victory...how does it feel to be out of the gray twillight?
I'm staggered all over again. Utterly and totally STAGGERED. Thank you, thank you...and just for good measure, THANK YOU. Thank you for your passion. Thank you for you determination. Thank you for your grace, manners and most of all thank you for your class. Your campaign was so smartly put together, so expertly organized and so very, very classy. I can't quite find the words to totally express just how impressed I am by your actions. Outside of what you guys have done for myself and the rest of the cast and crew, I truly believe you guys have made a little bit of history. You may have changed the way that TV audience figures are calculated from now on. You have certainly got all the networks talking about whether 'Nielsen' is still the best way to find out who and how many people are watching their stations. You have given a voice to the many that for a long time have been ignored. You made yourselves impossible to be ignored, and here's where your class came in...you always made it possible for CBS to change their minds. You never threatened or attacked or insulted. You were just so honest, forthright, well mannered and persistent. I think the network deserves much credit for being open enough and gracious enough to listen to you guys and to allow you this victory.
One minute I'm saying I can't find the words to express my feelings and here I am going on and on...I really just wanted to say thank you to all of you who posted such kinds words and good wishes to me after my last post. Your words touched me deeply. Other than that, all that's left to say is WELL DONE.
I coming back across the pond to work with a wonderful group of people I believed I might never be with again as we were before. For that I will forever be grateful to you all.
God bless you all and raise a glass to yourselves.
Cheers

I think he has potential but keeping us in the dark on how he knows so much is killing his character. A lot of output from very scarce character development.

Do you mean Hawkins? I don't think there is much more to learn about Jake's history by the end of the 1st season.

look, I liked the show, but it wasn't THAT good that it deserved this kind of uproar
I agree with you - but ironically the writing itself, it turns out, had a good deal to do with it. They threw the "nuts" story in during the marines episode (we're not giving up) and fans, very justly, used it in the campaign. The network was simply overwhelmed and had to do something about it. Of course it also makes a great media story and that doesn't hurt CBS either.

Nina Tassler, CBS President, just posted a letter on the official Jericho message board.

Below is a message from CBS Entertainment.

June 6, 2007

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of ?Jericho? for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more ?Jericho,? we will need more viewers.

A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.

We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that ?Jericho? will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting ?Jericho? on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of ?Jericho? in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler

President, CBS Entertainment

P.S. Please stop sending us nuts :)

I realized something today.
This concerns me: "But, for there to be more ?Jericho,? we will need more viewers."

The viewers who made the pleas to bring the show bring it back have almost no effect on its longevity. It's up to the antiquated Nielsen system that has no variable for VCR users, as far as I know.

It upsets me that everything tv related is tied to advertising which is tied to somebody marking a box on a sheet of paper... Total bee ess.

I've still got my money on their being a major shakeup in the traditional TV structure within the next 10 years.

I read somewhere that Nielsen will be coming out with a new system to partially help address the rating system (including the internet and tivo)...

Any word on when the new season begins and how long it will be?

IIRC, January and like half a season.

Thanks. I guess half a season is better than no season.
