JENSEN JHT525 HOME THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH POWERED SUB @ Parts Express

Sweet!!! In for 1! Should make a nice garage/bedroom/where-ever-else-I-want sound system with a cheap receiver I find somewhere. Thanks OP!

I bought this setup a few months ago and I can't complain... Well, except for the fact that I paid more like $75 for it.

It is what it is... A budget 5.1 system that does what you need it to do.

There is a thread on FW regarding a JVC SXXSW6000 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System for $49. Any opinions on which deal would be a better buy? The amazon speakers are supposed to have these specs:

# Cloth Grille Speakers
# New Mini-Cube Design Speakers with Integrated Mounting Hooks
# Oval Design, Magnetically Shielded Speakers
# Slot-Loaded Subwoofer (100w RMS) with auto-on/off
# 6 1/2" Long Throw Driver, Magnetically Shielded

The ratings on the receiver as reference:
# Stereo: 100 watts x 2, 6 ohms, from 40Hz to 20kHz with 0.8% THD
# Surround: 100 watts x 5, 8 ohms, from 40Hz to 20kHz with 0.8% THD

noob question: so what do you plug this into your TV or your DVD player? Seems like a PITA to not have volume control on a remote.

You need a Surround receiver to run the whole package.

Alright who broke the site? 😉

Jensen speakers are not magnetically shielded as far as I can tell. Still a damn nice deal. Correct me if I am wrong about the magnetically shielded part.

The JVC speakers including the sub deal for $49 are magnetically shielded. The JVC subwoofer has a higher wattage / rms. I think the JVC and Jensen satellites have the same Watts/RMS output.

If you don't need magnetically shielded get the Jensens. If you do get the JVC.

i bought a 7.1 receiver. i want to know if this speakers works with my receiver or not .also does the jvc speakers works with my receiver or not?

The Jensen center channel is shielded. If you have the right and left front speakers that close to a TV then you have it set up wrong to begin with.

Both systems would work fine for you. But you would only have a 5.1 speaker setup. You could buy 2 sets of either one and use 2 of the satellite speakers from the other kit to get a 7.1 setup.

That's a possibility or you could get a pair of decent speakers and run those as your FL/FR and have a much better system for music.

Wattage handling on the speakers doesn't really mean much since it's your receiver that will be powering them. Higher power handling isn't really a good indication of what the better set is. I really don't know how either of these sound, but don't let power handling be a big factor in your decision making.
