She tells why the current political system is broken, and more importantly, HOW TO FIX IT!
and the 'How to fix it' part seems doable.
hint: To fix the Federal level, it starts at the City + State level

She might be right about starting at the local and State level.

It starts even lower than that. It must start at the individual level. For there to be any real change we have to first start caring enough as individuals to do something about it. So far we do not, so it will not change.

State AG is a great place to have an impact.

Unless you live in a state that is gerrymandered to hell and the result of Democrats winning Governor and State AG elections turns into legislature stripping of them of power. You all should mock Wisconsin, we deserve it, don't stop for any reason.

Burning down the govt of the people for fun & profit.

Chicago's probably the most openly corrupt place I've ever lived. Good place to start. And oh, I voted straight Republican for the first and only time when I lived there and Gov Jim Thompson still ended up in jail. In Chicago/Ill when it comes to corruption it really is a bothsides world.

it starts at the top. if it doesn't happen, it's probably going to be a loooong time of minority rule.

Eric Holder: Democrats should add seats to Supreme Court

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/eric-holder-democrats-should-add-seats-to-supreme-court

Don't be fucking dumb and do something like add seats to SCOTUS. When you make things like that they can always come back to bite you in the ass.

I'm completely fine with RATIONAL changes - such as term limits or even making them publicly elected instead of appointed.

You know its Mitch's action(s) or lack thereof that is biting back right?

Ah, but that's the decisions (letting a felon pack SCOTUS and federal courts with radical conservatives, denying Garland consideration, putting the serial perjurer and probable sex offender on the court, etc.) of the Republicans biting them in the ass.

Oh, please. McConnell's snub of Garland was unconscionable. Changing the rules to slam two far right justices onto the Court even more so. Just because you see it as your team "winning" doesn't make it right.

She's absolutely right. Corruption is worse on the state and local level than it is on the federal. The most important thing here is that those who end up in the U.S. Congress usually start in local and state politics. If they go through those stages steeped in that corruption, they carry it with them to the U.S. Congress.

I'm actually impressed with what she's doing. Not even so much that she's doing it - these celebs are always doing stuff like this - but the fact she took a year off acting to do it. Since she's the highest paid actress in Hollywood, that's a lot of scratch she's leaving on the table for this.

-Agree with what you wrote in terms of Garland and rule changes, but adding judges to the court as a solution to anything is a non-starter. A 6/5 split is no different than a 5/4 split. Does the packing go on and we're at a 51/50 split, 101/100 split, etc.?

It's not a solution to a problem, it's the start of a brand new problem.

You're absolutely right, but for the sake of rhetoric, what is the response to McConnell's tactics? Tacit reward by taking the high road?

I don't pretend to have a good solution to this disaster.

Adding seats sounds like a pretty good idea to me. You are concerned about this causing Republicans to retaliate but what it actually is is Democrats retaliating.

As it stands Republicans have already shredded the norms around the judiciary, so that ship has sailed. It’s the job of Democrats now to retaliate in such a way to show republicans that the norms were there for a reason and make them regret shredding them to begin with.

If you have a better way to make republicans stop I’m open to hearing it.
