It's shocking but likely not so shocking when you think about the overall pipeline of how people become umpires in MLB. An entire pipeline that is probably heavily male dominated from the little leagues, to varsity sports, college level, minor leagues... Throw in shuttling of women into softball instead of baseball from an early age, and it's easy to see why such a disparity can exist and be perpetuated, intentionally or unintentionally.

I'm sure on some corner of the internet, someone is crying now about how "woke" baseball is becoming.

Only MLB was 28 years late when the NBA had its first female refs in 1997.

MLB has definitely been a "good ol' boys club" for 150 years.

And this on top of an NPR article I read yesterday of a Pastor saying we should remove a women's right to vote.
