so let me start this off by saying i dont work for nvidia or the graphics industry at all.

anyhow last night i go down to san jose to meet my friend from yahoo southern california who is at some trade show. we meet up another friend and wander around downtown san jose. i live near oakland so i really have no idea where we are.

anyhow we go to this bar called "voodoo lounge" and it turns out there a ton of people with random nvidia glowing necklaces and a live band on stage. so i ask a random person whats with all the nvidia gear and he says that they got them from the gpgpu conference and that nvidia sponsored the night.

so i eventually notice that the ceo of nvidia is on stage with his arms around 2 women and he looks like he's having a great time. so for the most part the rest of the night is us wandering around the bar, me randomly dancing on the dance floor a few times because random nvidia employees took my beer and us noticing its about 85% male in there.

so towards the end of the night i'm talking to some random guy outside who works on cuda compilers and another guy named jimmy. jimmy tells me that jen-hsun is still in the bar and its near 2am at this point. so i wanted to meet him so we go back inside, and i go up to the ceo of nvidia and say, hey whats up, i don't work for nvidia but i recognized you and you are so awesome for still being here. anyhow i remember jen-hsun saying that he bets i could beat up jimmy and that i said i wanst sure since he might be some kung fu master and rip my eye out like in kill bill and then we left the bar.

that said, i have an amd computer with amd chipset. when asked some of the nvidia employees there said that nvidia was going to come out with something awesome to beat the 5870. and jen-hsun huang is the coolest ceo of a tech company ever.

so yeah basically one of the more bizarro cool nights i've had haha.

That is awesome. AT the end of the GTC when they did the prize giveaways, they announced a bar-crawl across san jose with beer puchases going towards charity! they also had some of the nvidia board members create a band, with a cuda guy as the lead singer. You probably wandered directly into their pub-crawl.

sweet.

A Californian technology billionaire has been accused of feeding ecstasy to unwitting business associates, hosting orgies at a private drugs warehouse and building a secret party lair under his mansion that even his wife knew nothing about.

The allegations about the extraordinary lifestyle of Henry T. Nicholas III, founder of the chip company Broadcom, came in an indictment unsealed at a California court yesterday.

The 48-year-old businessman was already facing securities fraud and conspiracy charges over an alleged scheme to backdate stock options that forced Broadcom to write down $2.2 billion in profits last year.

I'm not saying Jensen isn't the coolest ceo ever, but he's got to be throwing some bitchen parties to beat out the competition.

So wait...you were with the drunk CEO of nV at 2am....

And you didnt get a scoop on Fermi??? Cronkite is turning over in his grave :|

It should have gone like this:

"Hey, I'm not affiliated with the tech industry, and I dont even know what a graphics adaptor is. But can you tell me the average FPS of G300 in Far Cry 2 at 1080p with 8X AA? It will be between us!"

LOL yeah. As soon as Jen-sun is force feeding ecstacy to his employees at a secret underground party lair orgy in his mansion basement, then we can declare him "cool". (Crystal Method song and Winamp visualiztions will be ran thru cuda on GF100's.)

ugh, you should've congratulated him and bought him a drink, or invited him to do a shot with you. that would've completely blindsided him as tea master and he probably would've bought you 20 drinks in return + a girl.

why don't i get these opportunities.

Jensun is Larry Ellison wannabe. He has some way to go. BTW, I'm never really fascinated by tech CEO parties. They ususally have too many guys and geeks, and the the females sometimes look like Janet Reno. Come down to any upscale clubs in LA and suddenly you realize that while these CEOs do have money, but many tend to use their money to mask their lack of "party etiquette" (eg, they try to pimp too hard). Larry Elisson is one of a few CEOs that can pimp and still look like he's not trying... but not Jensun.

shouldn't JS be working overtime to get the new dx11 parts out instead of partying til 2am? well at least he didn't seem to be worried so that's a good sign for the company.

I doubt the CEO knows anything about the products other than what he reads from PR department.
