So, I normally am not the guy who gets stuck making these. But this year my sister bailed on it, so it is my job.

What percentage 80 proof vodka do you make them with? My sister claims you need some sort of extra gelatin to get them to set (Knox cubes or something like that), but I've always just made them straight up, replacing most of the cold water with vodka.
 
Follow the instructions on the jello package but only use half the water and the other half use your preference of plastic bottle vodka. Then stick the jello in your fridge overnight or stick them in your freezer for a few hours if you want them that evening.

Everclear (if you can find it) is also a good substitute for vodka. The flavor basically covers up most of the taste of alcohol and it goes down real smooth.

Alright, that's what I thought. I just didnt want to risk runny jello shots for on the bus Saint Patrick's Day.
 
man jello shots are wicked. Every time we have them everyone gets toasted.

we had a bon fire and we made about 50 jello shots. we only had 12 people there. we ran out of jello shots early in the evening. We also finished off a keg of miller high life. I could not believe how much was drank that night. ahh to be 22 again heh.

the problem with jello shot is that you cant tell how many you actually have to drink. the are soo smooth its easy to down a bunch in a short time.

Last night I got a new alchohol called Canada LTD, erg, makes me shiver thinking about its taste. Pretty nasty, but I just got below the neck and I was out like a light.

But anyway... It's 80 proof because it's whiskey and really good stuff, my R/A knows that I got pretty drunk... But he really didn't care, so that's really cool... I'm just thinking of stuff to type...I think I'll stop now....

If 80 proof did that to you I suggest staying away from Everclear.

I've always used vodka, but I've also heard that you can use a lower proof alcohol, 40-50, and mix the shots with 100% of that, no water. Some of my friends have said they taste better.
