Jeff Skilling Is Indicted, Surrenders

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Former Enron Corp. Chief Executive Jeff Skilling, who led the company as it veered from fraud-fueled boom toward bankruptcy, was charged on Thursday with fraud, insider trading and lying about Enron's finances ahead of its spectacular collapse

But all the libs on here told me he'd never be charged! I don't understand!!

Skilling was the one that drove Enron into he ground, Lay was just around for the end. Skilling and Lay were the big targets they couldn't get without someone high up in Enron agreeing to testify against them, the CFO plea bargined a week or two ago. This gave the prosecutors the testimony they need to get Skilling and Lay. Skilling will be first because he had the biggest role.

Lay was Chairman of the Board I believe. He wasn't involved in day-to-day management of the company, if he's like most chairmen. So his culpability would likely be civil, rather than criminal. Depends if he had his hands in the till prior to 2000 when he was president.
