Yes, you are ricing it up - most people only do functional modifications to their case like extra fans.

$3k?

**raises eyebrow w/scowl**

yeah, this was the cheap method alright.

Forgot to mention that he also slapped-on an Autobot sticker for good measure.

Not to mention the prerequisite roll-cage w/fire-extinguisher, MoMo steering wheel and racing seats, after-market gauges, carbon-fiber pedals and stick shift knob, and the coupe de gracie: clip-on panorama rear-view mirror.

Factory spoilers are just for looks, and never really serve any functionality. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with a little spoiler to dress up a car. Look at the new Celica (as ugly as it is), it'd just look plain out weird without it's spoiler. Even my car has one from the factory and it doesn't serve any purpose - it just makes it look better.

I have heard that guys who "rice up" their cars are covering up for other inadequacies. ;) I don't know if it is true, it is just what I have heard... :)

<< Hate? Come on now. Thats worst then being a racist pig atleast those guys have reasons for hate. Hate blacks because they commit crime hating asians because they cant drive. Your hating a person because of his car? BTW those are just examples I have nothing against blacks or asians. I do dislike riceboys that risk everyones lives by driving recklessly on the streets. Grow up I don't dislike them just because their idea of beauty is different from mines. Grow up. >>

okay, you best not be talking about me. I never said I hate the drivers, I hate the cars. and you can't tell me I can't do that. I don't care about the drivers, but the cars are rediculous.

also, I'm not dissing legitimate fast Jap cars like a Supra TT or (some) 3000GT's. I'm more into American chevy V8's, (and maybe someday a nice dodge V10 viper ;))

I think the cars I would take over any jap car in order of when I'd be able to afford them when I get rich and make my millions (lol)

"Heh, riced up is riced up no matter who does the deed! "

Your implying that all styling is rice and shouldn't exist without a practical purpose. Thats insane! Most people don't drive sports cars, but we don't want our cars to look like boxes with wheels obviously. Factory spoilers like any body styling serves no purpose at all except to make your car look better. Next you'll be saying that stlyish cloths are superfluous. We should all be wearing mao suits!

look, a simple little spoiler or whatever doesnt disgust me as much, but something like this? I dont think so. they serve no purpose, especially on the front-wheel drive cars I see them on. and I've seen MUCH bigger ones than that too, which is the sad thing.

and the fart-can exhaust is the worst.. omg. why???

stickers, stickers, stickers... ugh

I long for the good old days of Detroit Big Block muscle cars.
They weren't stylish or "cute". They didn't need add on's to make them look bad or fast.
They sure as hell didn't "whine" like a sewing machine when you romped on the gas.

US muscle cars with 23947231097 cc engines are just as irrelevant as tarted up Honda Civics. Ya sure, you need that power to drive to the grocery store and get 14 inches per gallon. And, the Viper has gotta one of the most tacky looking cars I've ever seen. Sort of like the pseudo-styling of the old Corvettes.

Gimme a nice V4 BMW or Audi anyday. I'd take style over muscle any day.

I'd be quite comfotable in a 01 WS6 or a Z06 C5, I dont need wood grain dash and whatever else crap is in your german expensivemobiles. and just to let you know, who uses a vette or viper to go grocery shopping? they won't be getting much at the store, obviously. for that I'd drive a 2001 Chevy Z71 Silverado

Eug,

By all means, if all you want to do is go to the store and back, buy a glorified VW.
Although I've never understood the logic of paying a premium for a nameplate, to each his own.
The beauty of the classic American muscle cars was that you could get one off the dealers lot for not much more than you'd pay for the everyday version of the same car. Most of the time the only difference being the size and output of the engine.

Eh? Ever been in one? You won't find tacky wood grain in these (at least in the ones I've been in). No actually what I prefer is the nice styling and the handling of these things. My friend had a 5.7 L TA and the thing accelerated like a rocket, but it also drove like a tank. Plus the worksmanship wasn't even in the same league. Another friend had an older 5 L Mustang. Same thing in terms of worksmanship. Of course it's my own preference and everyone has his/her own opinion, but I also don't think the TAs and the Vipers even look nice. For a nice looking sports car I like the Porsche Boxter or Ferrari 308 (but of course they cost way too much).

That said, I won't buy an Audi or BMW, at least now. Truth be known, my next car is ugly as hell, is a lousy accelerator (except at low speeds), has mediocre handling, and has few luxury features. But it does what a car needs to do, and it gets very good gas mileage.

True. American cars are cheaper.

Ho, ho, ho, hee, hee, hee. What a wonderful topic this would be. :p

Should form always follow function? Just where do you draw the line where aesthetics is concerned. Remember when they quit painting the Space Shuttle booster tank white? All that expensive paint and added weight for no more than aesthetics. Interesting, no?

And how many of you paint your cases weird colors or even use Plexiglas side panels etc.? And yet some of you argue that it's a question of taste. It's OK to add superfluous spoilers and pin striping if "it's tasteful". Wow, so who becomes the "taste" police? If it's done by the factory, that's OK, but if a kid does it, it's tacky. Well, well isn't this something?

I think Solomon said it best long ago: Ecclesiastes 1:1,12 Vanity of vanities; all is vanity!

And "Riced" is "Riced". The factory only does it because that's what consumers want. They do whatever it takes to sell these things. I think the "Rice Boys" set the pace and the factories follow. Yeah, they're more "tasteful", but fluff is fluff and riced is riced...

Wait a second - we went from factory spoilers to factory rice?? What factory cars are "riced up" by your definition?

Honestly,

I don't like your (future) car Michael Knight. That's just my opinion, but I think it looks like a BUG. Not a V-dub.... but a bug.

This is more my style

Sorry Valhalla - but IMO, the nose of that car looks like it's gotten an overdose of Viagra and it about to explode :disgust:

Still, I gotta respect their speed

PS - how in the hell can you see over that hood???

Looks aren't what it's all about though. I couldn't care less how a car looks as long as it's fast. My car doesn't look all that great - but it can whip! So whoever doesn't like how it looks - fine. Just get used to lookin at it from behind ;)
