Ho, ho, ho, hee, hee, hee. What a wonderful topic this would be.
Should form always follow function? Just where do you draw the line where aesthetics is concerned. Remember when they quit painting the Space Shuttle booster tank white? All that expensive paint and added weight for no more than aesthetics. Interesting, no?
And how many of you paint your cases weird colors or even use Plexiglas side panels etc.? And yet some of you argue that it's a question of taste. It's OK to add superfluous spoilers and pin striping if "it's tasteful". Wow, so who becomes the "taste" police? If it's done by the factory, that's OK, but if a kid does it, it's tacky. Well, well isn't this something?
I think Solomon said it best long ago:
Ecclesiastes 1:1,12 Vanity of vanities; all is vanity!
And "Riced" is "Riced". The factory only does it because that's what consumers want. They do whatever it takes to sell these things. I think the "Rice Boys" set the pace and the factories follow. Yeah, they're more "tasteful", but fluff is fluff and riced is riced...
