They have laws specifically regarding the use of fuels other than diesel in diesel engines? :Q

Whats up with that? So people can't "avoid taxes"?

The Jeep Liberty is a joke. The Xterra is fading fast. CR-V is nice for its purpose but does'nt do much in the looks department.
Maybe a stripped down Honda - Pilot...
The Element should be in that price range, but he may not go for the body style.
I like it...

checkout www.xterraownersclub.com for more info on the Xterra.
My Fiance recently purchased a 2002 Xe v6 2wd Xterra back in July and has been very satisfied with it.
I believe she averages 18mpg daily driving. In addition to the aesthetics, you get alot of vehicle for the money.
Even though I was leaning toward a used late model 4Runner, I have been more than pleased with the Xterra.
The V6 w/auto has a good towing capacity, Very good visibility while driving (No blind spot issue for me).
It really depends what you plan on using the vehicle for.
The Xterra is a very offroad capable vehicle also, basically comes w/ 31 in tires stock. still has a solid rear axle unlike the CR-V. LSD option. I look at the Xterra as a replacement for the "Old school" Pathfinder which has evolved into a $$$ Luxury vehicle.

If you are looking more toward gas mileage and commuting - the CR-V would be in your best interest - CR-V is built off of a car platform.
We didn't make it to test drive the Jeep Liberty b/c she thought it looked funny and she fell in love with the Xterra.
BTW- her previous car was a 4cyl Camry.

Wow so do you guys post at all on XOC? I've been there since 2001.

Here's a real link :D

Xterra Owners Club

I've had mine since December 99.

Hits

- Great off road
- Lots of space inside ( I can sleep inside with the rear seats down. Great for camping)
- looks cool

Misses

- Gas milage is really bad
- Did I mention that gas milage is really bad
- Oh gas milage is bad

If you can live with the gas milage then get an X. If you can't then get a CRV.

I'm thinking of selling mine in the fall and getting a Honda Element. I mountain bike and like the plasic floor and funky styling.

I would not even consider the Escape or Liberty. Yes they're nice but they've both been recalled far to many times.

See my sig for a link to my X in action.

I have a 2000 Xterra. The ride is nice, the power of the V6 is pretty good, the back seat is roomy enough and has high ceilings for adults, and it's been trouble free.

The new ones have even more power if I'm not mistaken.
