Using that same link the #2 vehicle is the Toyota Sequoia @ ummm.. 533,124 vehicles. If you combine ALL of Chrysler (#9) the total comes to 50,665. Umm... How does this make the Commander the most recalled vehicle on the market? All of Chrysler in 2007 equates to 10% of one Toyota SUV?

Have trouble reading and with math, HUH?

Lets see here 1 SUV for Toyota vs 5 for Jeep.

This is because Toyota just crushed Chrysler in over all sales.
More cars out there the more they have to recall if there is a problem.

I have a 97 Cherokee, and I love it. It was the smallest vehicle I could get to suit my needs. I needed something that could haul like a truck, and with creative packing I can put a ton(well 3/4 ton actually :^P) of stuff in it. Chrysler is the only American brand I would consider buying. The Jeep, along with my previous 1 ton Dodge van have been the best American cars I ever owned. My needs have changed somewhat over the years, so I may get a Japanese compact suv next time, but if gas prices weren't an object, I would definitely be buying another Jeep.
 
something to think about, just becauseit has a tow package, doesnt necassarily mean it can tow much, guy iw ork with bought a brand new rubicon with the tow package on it from the dealership brand new. guess what, towing anything over 500 pounds voids the warranty, and of course most things weigh more than 500, thats 500 total, not 500 tongue weight. transfer case in the rear went out because he towed his 4 wheeler, and of course he had to pay to get it fixed, the 4 wheeler and trailer where over 500 pounds, he told the truth when he went to the dealership for rearend trouble. Told them it started having problems after he towed his 4 wheeler to go riding it. The dealership said "oh thats because you arent suppose to tow over 500 pounds. Man was he pissed, imagine, a vehicle with a tow package and not suppose to tow over 500 pounds. It was in the fine print for the rubicon too, the real fine print. i have to agree the build quality of jeeps now adays arent like they were years ago.

Jeep sux as far as resale value goes..I have an 06 Grand Cherokee, sticker was $31k, paid ~$26k, with about 49k miles, guess how much it is worth now as a trade in? $14k or so 2 months ago, maybe a bit less now...WTF a $30k+ msrp suv is worth $14k in less than 2 yrs? my wife's Toyota 05 rav4 that we paid $20k for it has a trade in value of $16k. I will never buy a Jeep or any american cars for that matter. I don't see how you can get 17mpg with a V8 and a heavier suv, as I only get around 16mpg mixed driving with the V6.

errrr. Jeeps actually lead their class in resale value. maybe not your 06 grand cherokee. maybe the cigarette burns dint help 😉 but for compact SUV, jeeps lead the way. hard to find any old wrangler for less than 3-4K no matter how old/miles/etc.

I may not be the most knowledgeable on Jeep Rubicon's but there is only one transfer case to my knowledge on any 4x4 Jeep. You may have meant rear axle. As far as the tow package the Commander with the class IV installed hitch and a 4.7 is rated at 6,500 Lbs. The Hemi is rated at 7400.

Now for even further clarification here is the fine print. NOTE: You may have confused tough weigh with towing capacity. Tongue weight is the downward force put on the "ball" of the hitch. Not the lateral force required to pull a trailer.

"While it's not listed in the charts, tongue weight is also an important consideration. The recommended tongue weight is between 10 & 15% of the trailer weight. However, the maximum tongue weight on Class III (The bumper ball) is limited to 500 lbs, and Class IV (The receiver hitch) to 1200 lbs."

FYI this is the same with the Commander. I just checked. So the towing capacity is 2000 Lbs but your buddy exceeded the tongue weight.

I have verified this both with the real time MPG gauge and simple math at the pump. By practicing some of the techniques on this page you can increase the mileage on any car!

Now they take it to an extreme and I do not draft trucks or turn off the motor when drafting, but simple things like slower acceleration to the speed limit and driving @ 60MPH instead of 65 goes a long way!

while my city mileage is embarassing, i get 17.5 MPG in my HEMI v8 Ram when doing strictly highway road. I totally agree you could be getting that 🙂

I was wondering the same thing... I guess the mod's do not care? I may be a fickin' newbie on this forum but this type of behavior would not be tolerated on other sites I have been associated with for 10+ years.

This is flat out not true. The warranty covers towing with any load up to what the rating in the owner's guide lists. For my Jeep thats 5000lbs. They cannot and will not legally void that warranty as long as you do not exceed that rating.

Also, to those commenting about the tranny: Remember, the tranny is counted by Chrysler as part of the power train. The power train has a lifetime warranty. That means if you have concerns about the tranny, you are covered so you can relax.
 
How do I post a picture? One of the local dealers I was emailing just sent me an additional $2000 bonus off if I owned a previous Crysler vehicle. I was going to post it but I cannot figure out how.

Bummer, always a better deal after the fact...
 
Hmm...

I've only had experience with two Chrysler/Dodge models:

Dodge Grand Caravan (okay, but low quality... ate belts and such)
Plymouth Neon (okay, but low quality...)

Seriously, these cars have a lot of PLASTIC in the internals where I would have expected metal...
