I played the first couple levels of Outcast and could not get into it. Just endless grey hallways shooting stormtroopers looking for a key. Maybe it gets more intersting later.

Yeah it starts reeeeeaeaaaallly slow. It gets alot better when you get more force powers and such.

Once you get your lightsaber, you'll never go back to your other weapons. 🙂

+1. You might use the disruptor to snipe or for its zoom, and your pistol to blow up mines, but everything else is basically useless after that.

I used the other weapons frequently as well, mainly for a change of pace. There is tons of ammo for everything in those games.

I actually played basically ever SW game made after '99, in a 6 month span a couple years ago, and I still have Academy installed, just because every once in a while a guy gets that urge to go slash something with his lightsaber. Same with Battlefront2 (local or LAN, Jedi's only mode)

Outcast was good, but Academy is newer and probably has more players/mod-support. I am not sure how many people either play both though since the game is pretty old... I thought the graphics looked pretty good when I played. (Then again I was used to playing Jedi Knights Dark Forces II for so many years)

I liked Outcast more, actually - that "death from above" attack was ridiculously unstoppable.

Damn ATOT for making me break out this game again. Next thing you know I'll be playing Diablo II AGAIN. For the 12th time.

Damn you ATOTers! 🙂

Both are good. Outcast is the better one but Academy is just more of the same slice & dice.

Ah yes...the strong style leap attack. They jacked that from the Barbarian, yo! 🙂

I'd say that if you want a good story line with good Star Wars tie ins and the such, I'd play Outcast - its a very strong game...if you want more fun force powers and light saber action get Jedi Academy, gotta love the dual sabers! Either way is fun...you just gotta choose story or gameplay.

Jedi Outcast has a far superior story and feel. But I enjoyed Jedi Academy.

Now I am sad. Through gross mismanagement, Lucasarts has destroyed the Star Wars gaming genre.

Pretty much.

RPG's.
RTS's.
Fighter sims.
Third-person-shooters.
First-person-shooters.
MMO's (possibly).

outcast is an amazing game, but academy had better (although sometimes cheap) lightsaber combat.

basically, outcast for singleplayer and academy for multiplayer.

Not just possibly. They destroyed MMOs with Star Wars Galaxies

Hopefully the new KOTOR MMO will be good. We can only hope that Bioware pulls it out of the fire.
